I have just finished Sally Vickers - Instances of the Number 3.
I really enjoyed this as a light read, much needed after The Tivington Nott (Alex Miller) which I found quite brutal (story surrounds a deer hunt).
I have just started an Isabel Allende book that I found in the local op shop. I haven't read her for ages. An old favourite!
This one is set in the slavery era in the Spanish/French colony of Saint Domingue. As usual Allende's story focuses on a strong women who forges a new life from her birth into a role chosen for her amid times of inequality and disadvantage.
